Java and Flash versions of Bingo
You need a Java-capable computer to play the Java Bingo games. If using the new and dynamic Macromedia Flash there is nothing to download or install onto your computer other than a minor plug-in if your computer doesn't have it already (chances are it will). To play these games, simply select them from the Member's Area and play!

Flash Plug-In
If by chance your computer does not have the Flash Plug-in installed, and it doesn't load automatically when you try to play the Flash version of Bingo, then you can obtain it at the following link:

Flash Plug-In

Click on the "Install Now" button to automatically download and install the Macromedia Flash Player into your browser. Depending on your security settings, you may see a Security Warning dialog box. Click "Yes" to accept the ActiveX control. When you see the Macromedia test screen you will have successfully installed the flash player. If you have are any more questions, which are not answered here, please consult our F.A.Q

Instructions to enable Java
To ensure your version of Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer is Java-Enabled, please follow these instructions: If you are using Netscape, choose "Preferences" from the "Edit" menu. Then, click on "advanced" and verify that the "Enable Java" and "Enable JavaScript" boxes are checked. After you have exited "Preferences," close all Netscape browsers and then re-open Netscape. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, choose "Internet Options" from the "View" menu. Then, click on the "Advanced" tab and verify that the "Java JIT compiler enabled" box is checked. After you have exited "Internet Options," close all Internet Explorer browsers and then re-open Internet Explorer.

Macintosh Users
If you have Mac you can play! For Mac computers that support JAVA, IE 4.5 or higher is fine, however ensure the JVM is set to Mac MRJ. We do not recommend using Netscape to access our games on a Mac.

Bingo Version Options and Troubleshooting
  • Download Bingo
  • Java Bingo
  • Flash Bingo

Can't decide which game to choose? Here are some details about the differences between them and some troubleshooting tips:

Download Client Bingo
This software is easy to download and install, making all your future entries into the game lightning fast.

How to Download
If you have not done so already, create an account to gain access to the Members' Area where the download link is located. If you have an 50plusbingo account, it is NOT necessary to open another account at 50plusbingo. With your 50plusbingo account, login to the Member's Area and select "Play Bingo". The next screen will give you the option to download the Bingo software, together with full instructions to do so.

Joining A Game
After you have installed the Bingo on your Windows PC, start the game by clicking the "50plusbingo" icon that appears on your Desktop. You will be prompted to enter your Player ID and password, then click the 'connect' button. From there you will need to choose which Bingo Stream to enter (the choices will vary from time to time), then you are in the game! All Bingo players in the same stream (non withstanding the software platform they have chosen to play under) are playing in the same game, however the Chat is allocated separately between the Download Client and Flash/Java Bingo.

Java Bingo
We recommend this version of our game for most players - certainly at first to try it out since there is no download necessary. Depending on your connection speed, the game will take up to 1 minute to load the first time, and it may appear to be doing nothing for the first few seconds. Subsequent logins will take half that time since the sound and graphics files will remain in your computer's temporary memory files unless you clear your cache. If you are using a Netscape browser, we recommend only using this or the download

Chat in Java Bingo
To chat click on the chat button underneath the game cards. Click on the room you want to chat in (there may be one or more rooms available.) You have the choice of keeping your chat open under the cards (chat docked) or opening a new window to chat in (chat window). Keep in mind that you will only be able to Chat with other members who have launched the game using this version of Bingo, although they will be playing in the same game with you.

Dauber
The dauber is automatically set on Auto-Daub. This allows you to chat freely and the game will automatically daub any of your numbers that are called. You may also select the color you would like the dauber to use by selecting from the dauber menu. To turn the Auto-Daub feature off, click on "Auto-Daub On" It should then change to "Auto-Daub Off" and you can daub your numbers as they are called. If you miss any numbers, there is a convenient "catch up" button that you can use at any time.

Security Error
If Java is disabled in Internet Explorer or Netscape browser, you may get a security error that says something similar to the statement below:"An ActiveX control on this page is not safe. Your current security settings prohibit running unsafe controls on this page. As a result, this page may not display as intended."To resolve this problem, enable Java in your Internet Options/Security settings. Either set the browser security settings back to the default or go into Custom and enable Java. If the game is not loading, there might be a problem with your installed copy of the Microsoft virtual machine. Try one or both of the following solutions:

1) Empty Cache
Empty your browser's cache and then close and restart the browser. To do this with Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.01 Service Pack 1 (and above): Click View...Internet Options ... General ... Temporary Internet Files: Click the Delete Files button. With Netscape version 4: Click Edit...Preferences Advanced...Cache. There are two buttons : 'Clear Memory Cache' and 'Clear Disk Cache'. You need to do both.

2) Install Java Virtual Machine
Click here to download and install the Java virtual machine. What happens if the game freezes? If the game plays but then suddenly freezes up, but the rest of your computer is OK, you may need to shut down your browser and restart your computer. This is the result of Microsoft's memory management system. It is inconsistent and this only affects some computers. If this happens you will need to close all the browser windows, including email, and then restart your computer, reconnect and then re-enter the game. If you do a lot of multi-tasking, or if your computer has limited memory, this problem may result. If it does happen, and you are forced to leave the game, rest assured your bingo cards will be played out and your bingo called for you if the winning card is in your possession. If problem persists we highly recommend you install the download client version of Bingo.

Flash Bingo
The main difference between the Flash and the Java version is the ability to resize your screen. In the Java version the screen is set to a specific size. In the Flash, you can adjust the size of the screen to fit your computer. Flash also has a few exciting graphics features that are not available in the Java games. You can also change the size of your actual bingo cards by hitting the magnifying glass buttons on the screen. This is a great feature for players who are playing more than 6 bingo cards at one time.
